Teufel bildet den Abschluss der Sina/Wagner-Trilogie, neben den beiden Hauptcharakteren kommen auch die liebgewonnen Freunde (Berner, Burgi, Goldmann,...) aus den beiden Vorgängerbüchern nicht zu kurz.
Dieses Mal beginnt alles mit zwei in ein Kriegerdenkmal eingemauerten Weltkriegsleichen mitten im tiefsten Niederösterreich. Was noch relativ harmlos beginnt, entwickelt sich schnell wieder zu einer Jagd quer durch Österreich, Deutschland und Italien.
Gesucht wird diesmal ein geheimnisvolles Archiv, dessen Inhalt die gesamte katholische Kirche zutiefst erschüttern wird. Und irgendwie hat Balthasar Jauerling seine toten Hände mit im Spiel...
Ich fand den dritten Teil ziemlich gelungen, ein grober Schwachpunkt ist allerdings, dass die handelnden Frauen entweder übertriebene Kampfhexen oder extrem hilflose kleine Nonnen sind. Auch dass alles ein bisschen zuuuu glatt läuft hat mich ein wenig gestört, aber alles in allem ein sehr gut recherchierter Roman, der auch als Hörbuch gut funktioniert. Der Sprecher ist wiederum Wolfgang Wagner, der in meinen Augen hier einen besseren Job abgeliefert hat. Die Geschichte ist nicht ganz so spannend wie in Narr, aber eine durchaus runde Sache. Ich vergebe 8 von 10 Punkten und höre derzeit "Ein ganz neues Leben" von Jojo Moyes, gelesen von Luise Helm.

Rotraut Hinderks- Kutscher: Donnerblitzbub Wolfgang Amadeus
Es ist ein Kinderbuch in den schönen altdeutschen Buchstaben, die tatsächlich der einzige Grund sind, warum ich das Buch überhaupt gelesen habe.
Es geht - wenig überraschend - um die Lebensgeschichte (na gut, um einen Teil davon) von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, der im zarten Alter von 3 zum Komponieren begonnen hat. Trotz herausragender Erfolge mangelt es seiner Familien und ihm immer an Geld, zu Beginn nehmen ihm die Leute nicht ab, dass er selbst komponiert, später ist er einfach der gute Lackl, der das tut, was er gern mag, aber er hat nicht den Biss, seine Auftraggeber um mehr Geld zu bitten, bzw. zu zwingen, ihm das Bissl überhaupt auszuzahlen. So tingelt er erst in Begleitung der ganzen Familie, dann nur mit jeweils einem Elternteil, durch ganz Europa und versucht, seinen Lebensunterhalt zu bestreiten.
Das Buch endet mit der Erschaffung von "Die Entführung aus dem Serail".
Jaaaa, war ganz annehmbar, ist ja auch schon ein recht altes Buch und für doch deutlich jüngere Menschen, als ich es inzwischen bin. Als Kind hätte es mir sicher gut gefallen, es sind einige Zeichnungen drin und auch Musikstücke, so ganz nett gemacht. Ich vergebe trotzdem nur 5 Punkte, weil's einfach nicht das richtige war.

Mo Hayder: Birdman
This book was recommended to me by a girl from the Lesezirkel. It is the first part of a series of books (obviously...) about DI Jack Caffery.
DI Caffery has had a bad night, and now the telephone rings and he is told that the bodies of 5 dead women have been found. After the autopsy it's clear that a serial killer is responsible for all those deaths. As the killer sews small birds into the thorax, he is called "Birdman" almost immediately.
Most of the victims have been drug addicted prostitutes. This is the reason Cafferys colleague Diamond is quite sure that the killer must be a black dealer. But Caffery is on a totally different trace, and soon he finds himself in a most disturbing horror story.
Wow, this was hardcore! Hayder describes very accurately, which made me retch more than once in the morning train to work. The language is sometimes not sooooo easy, a lot of technical terms - but my Kindle helped out ;-).
I award 9 out of 10 for a really good story, minor drawback was the language plus the not very good e-book design.
Currently I read Shock by Kathy and Brendan Reichs, and will (as it is a short story) turn afterwards immediately to Terminal by the same authors.

Max Brooks: The Zombie Survival Guide
Hard to believe, but after (I guess) 3 years (it felt even longer) I finally finished this book.
What took me so long? In the beginning I found it interesting to get tips for a coming zombie apocalypse, however, most of the tips one already knows from various movies, other tips are simply common sense... be prepared, be silent, get a group of people (but a reasonably small one), get a save haven, ensure you have enough water, ensure you got enough to eat, enough ammo...
One part of the book deals with various zombie outbreaks since the beginning of human writing. I really looked forward to this part of the book, but it turned out to be as boring as the rest. All stories are really really far-fetched, and so vague that it isn't even fun reading.
I obviously did not like this book, I wont rate it (as I wont start giving minus points). Aparently the second book of Max Brooks is much better (friends tell me), so perhaps in a few years time, after I digested this desaster, I will come to this author.

Ransom Riggs: Library of Souls
The third and obviously final installment of the Mrs. Peregrine series starts literally a second after the ending of the second book - which was a little confusing for me, since it had been a while since I had finished it. But it didn't take too long to find back into the story.
Jacob and Emma have been separated from the other peculiar children, and they do everything to be reunited. After a lot of struggles the "final war" of the peculiar children with the world's evil takes place.
A lot of sad things happen in this book, but the ending is - without spoilering too much - a friendly one. Hence I can award 10 out of 10 (even if I DID cry at the end). Sad though, that there wont be any more books within this universe - Ransom... can you be bribed into a Prequel/Sequel?

Jerome K Jerome: Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)
A book obviously mostly read in school, a book I hadn't even heard of until end of last year, which was recommended by my friend (the one who brought me on track with Schilddorfer/Weiß).
The Story is about Jerome and his two friends Harris and George (and the dog Montmorency), who decide to make a two-week boat trip along the river Thames- and that is where the trouble starts. Boating from Kingston to Oxford they have a lot of funny adventures. The return trip is, well, hilarious!
It is not easy for me to bring my opinion on "paper". I have mixed feelings about this book. Some parts are very funny indeed, others are rather boring and immensely strange. All the time the author jumps back in time to tell some story not really related to the story itself, not quite to my liking. However the book is rather old, the times have changed, and hey, why should I not have read an obvious all-time classic. It was ok, but not the best thing I ever had in my hands.
The worst for me was, that there seem to be pictures in the book, the kindle-edition I downloaded only had the corresponding subtexts, sometimes not even separated from the text itself, which made some parts difficult to read, as I had to figure out where the subtexts ended... I award 6 out of 10 for Three Man in a Boat

[AUDIOBOOK] Tad Williams - Bobby Dollar 1 - Die dunklen Gassen des Himmels
Bobby Dollar ist ein Engel - auch wenn man das nicht vermuten würde, so viel wie er flucht und sich auch sonst eher so wie der typische Bargeher (in Filmen) benimmt. Er ist nicht "nur" ein einfacher Engel, sondern ein Anwalt der Himmelsseite für die frisch verstorbenen, heißt, er hilft entscheiden, ob eine Seele in den Himmel, die Hölle oder das Fegefeuer kommt.
Bei einem Fall kommt Bobby zum Sterbeort, und keine Seele ist da. Was soll das bedeuten? Die Hölle bezichtigt Bobby, Bobby bezichtigt die Hölle, aber eigentlich weiß keiner was da los ist.
Als wären das noch nicht genug Probleme, verliebt sich Bobby auch noch in eine Höllenschönheit. So richtig! Ohne an die Konsequenzen zu denken, gibt sich er sich dieser Liebe hin, und schlittert damit von einer Gefahr in die nächste.
Ein grandioses Hörbuch gelesen von Simon Jäger (dt. Stimme von Matt Damon). Ich liebe seine Stimme! Die Geschichte ist mal was anderes. Der Himmel wird als wunderschön, aber auch tw. ziemlich langweilig beschrieben, alles (ok, fast alles) ist dort möglich, aber so wirklich Spaß macht es scheinbar nicht. Gruselige Monster, ein vertrackter Fall und ziemlich viel Fluchen.... Ich mochte das Buch und hab mir sofort die anderen beiden Teile der Reihe besorgt. 10 von 10 (irgendwie vergeb ich das zur Zeit oft...)
