Neil Gaiman: The Ocean at the End of the Lane

Oh what a wonderful book!

After a funeral the narrator is on his way to his sister. As he is not in a hurry, he drives around a bit, not really recognizing the world he lived in as a boy. When he arrives at a farm at the end of the lane his memory awakens...

... and suddenly he is that small boy again, living in a rather large house with his parents and his sister. He has a bedroom with a little sink (just his size), a little kitten, and all is well. Until one day his kitten is run over by a car. This is when things get haywire. Suddenly someone is dead, the girl at the end of the lane (Lettie Hempstock) is revealed to be more than just a girl, there is a very strange behaving worm, a creepy nanny in the house, and nothing is anymore what it seemed to be...

I really recommend this book! There are very lovable characters (ok, all but one or two), a fantastic story with a (wider) touch of horror and a lot of Neil Gaiman in this book! I award 10 out of 10!
