Suzanne Collins - Mockingjay

The third volume of the hunger games trilogy tells about Katniss' life after her second hunger games. Things have changed for her, as well as for all the others in Panem. A rebellion against the Capitol is taking place, and its immediate effects on all the districts are changing life not only for Katniss. Still being the symbol which stands against everything from the Capitol, Katniss - the now so-called Mockingjay - has to face war from its worst side: torture, injuries and death.

I am getting more and more a fan of Suzanne Collins, who manages to make this Story even worse than it was in part 2. She describes a dark and nearly death-sentenced world, where only a little hope is left, that somewhen everything might be right again.
Even the lovestory is not really ending in a happy way. Wow, I really appreciated that - I could not have standed a wonderfull hollywood happy end.
So I award 10 out of 10.

I already finished "Zombie Deutschland - Episode I - Ground Zero" by Fabian Lutz (I am not able to find a working link to this one, as well as I am not able to find the other volumes, despite it being ebooks... - can anyone help me out?), and started reading "The Last Book" by Michael Collins (I don't think he is related to Suzanne, but who knows?) as well as something very different and very enjoyable: "Bear called Paddington" by Michael Bond (which is making people turn their head because I am roaring out of laughter)

Suzanne Collins - Catching Fire

In the second book of the hunger games trilogy Katniss' life after the games is prescribed. She and Peeta, both being winner of the 74th hunger games, have to travel to each and every district of Panem, have to look into the eyes of the family members of children they killed.
While travelling, they find out, that life is not so peaceful as it was, the 12 districts of Panem are beginning to fight against the presumingly allmighty Capitol.
When the 75th hunger games are announced, it is clear, that not only Katniss, but Peeta and others as well have to go back into the Arena, where Katniss rises to be the Idol of the new revolution - the mockingjay of Panem.

I really liked the second book. Especially, because it continues with not being a happy story. Everything happening is tragic and one really feels sorry with everyone of the Main characters.
I award 9 out of 10 and already finished the last book of the trilogy "Mockingjay".

Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown - The Big Cat Nap

In the 20th book about Harry Harristeen everything is about cars, people have minor and major accidents, people get murdered in their cars or at the repair Shop, get chased by faster cars etc.
Bad Chance, Harrys old John Deere needs to be repaired as well, and Harry, always interested in everything questions her repairmaster, and hence gets a good idea what might be behind all these murders and behind all These strange car accidents...

Well, the 20th story wants to be a Crozet-story, and sure does a lot to be One, old friends and beloved characters are back in the cast... All the same, there is a lot of productplacement, there are sentences where you don't know whether they are really finished or not... Strange a little! I am not one of those readers, who will stop reading Brown, but to be honest, it is Not so much fun as it was until a few books ago...

I award 6 out of 10 for trying. Coming up next is the second book of the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins (Catching Fire).
Additionally I started reading the Zombie Survival Guide (Max Brooks).

Kerstin Gier - Smaragdgrün

Im dritten Teil der "Liebe geht durch alle Zeiten"-Trilogie wird die Liebe zwischen den beiden Zeitreisenden Gwendolyn und Gideon auf eine harte Probe gestellt. Ist Gideon wirklich in Gwendolyn verliebt? Oder hat er ihr die ganze Zeit nur etwas vorgespielt.
Neben den typischen Teenagerproblemen, muss weiterhin festgestellt werden, wer denn nun der Verräter innerhalb der Wächter ist; eine nicht ganz einfache Aufgabe, bei der nicht nur die beiden Hauptdarsteller ihr Leben riskieren.
Alle Anspielungen auf Zeitreisen aus den ersten beiden Bänden werden geklärt, und auch sonst so manche nette Kleinigkeiten, speziell über den letzten Absatz im Buch hab ich mich sehr gefreut :-)

Auch wenn das Buch recht kitschig ist, und die Teenagerliebe als das darstellt, was sie ist, nämlich so richtig schön schmalzig, bin ich happy mit allem, mit dem Ausgang der Geschichte, der Charakterentwicklung und der Aufdeckung des einen oder anderen Geheimnisses. Ich hab's wieder verschlungen, nur hatte ich diesmal nicht ganz so viel Zeit, und hab deshalb etwas länger gebraucht, aber die defacto Lesezeit liegt so bei 4-5 Stunden. Schön war's! Ich vergebe 10 von 10 (weil's sooooo schön war, und weil mich Kitsch am richtigen Fleck nicht stört).

Mein derzeitiger Begleiter ist der 20. Band der Mrs. Murphy Mysteries: The Big Cat Nap von Rita Mae und Sneaky Pie Brown.

Kerstin Gier - Saphirblau

Im zweiten Teil von Kerstin Giers Zeitreisetrilogie versuchen Gideon und Gwendolyn einen Verräter in den eigenen Reihen zu finden. Ständig werden ihre - auch zufällig ausgewählten - Zeitreisen durch Angriffe gestört, und Gideon sogar verletzt. Die üblichen Verdächtigen sind Lucy und Paul, doch nach einem Treffen mit den beiden ist sich Gwendolyn nicht mehr so sicher, dass sie die wahren Schuldigen sind.
Ein kleiner Wasserspeiergeist - Xemerius - hilft Gwendolyn bei der Vorbereitung auf ein neuerliches Treffen mit dem Grafen von Saint Germain bei einer vornehmen adeligen Gesellschaft, und hilft auch sonst, wo er kann.
Der Graf hingegen pflanzt die Saat der Zwietracht in Gwendolyns Herz...

Wie der erste Teil ist der zweite schnell gelesen, und man möchte eigentlich sofort mit dem 3. Teil weitermachen (wenn's nicht schon so spät am Abend wäre). Die Geschichte spannt sich munter weiter, es gibt keinen Hänger, ein klein bisschen vorhersehbar bleibt das Ganze, aber das macht ja nix :-) also wiederum 8 von 10 Punkten - und ja, das nächste Buch ist Smaragdgrün :-)

Kathy Reichs - Bones to Ashes

The book starts with Temperance Brennan remembering a long lost friend from her childhood - Evangeline, with whom she discussed all the topics young girls are interested in. Shortly after pondering about Evangelines - and all her family's - sudden disappearance Tempe gets a box with the remains of a young girl and begins to suspect, that her long lost friend lies stripped to her bones before her. So Tempe decides to investigate this remains further, alongside her usual forensic work.
Additionally, Andrew Ryan, no longer her boyfriend, needs her help in cold cases involving 3 missing and 2 dead girls.
Tempes sister Harry comes to Montreal and gets involved in the search for Evangeline and her family, as usual getting herself into danger.

Well, every single line of the book seems to get down to the search for Tempes childhoodfriend, everything seems to be linked... All in all I liked the book, but one or two coincidences less would not have done any harm.
So I award 6 out of 10 for a good idea and a mediocre adoption.

I now have on my lifestand - matching the season - Oliver Uschmanns "Überleben auf Festivals".

Kerstin Gier - Rubinrot

Eins gleich vorweg - meine Schwester war nicht sehr beeindruckt, dass ich Rubinrot lese, und hat mir gleich einen ganzen Schwall anderer Teenagerliteratur empfohlen...

Gwendolyn Shepherd kommt aus einer Familie, in der ein Zeitreise-Gen vererbt wird. Und statt ihrer gut vorbereiteten Cousine Charlotte, ist es Gwendolyn selbst, die auf einmal anfängt, unkontrolliert immer wieder für eine gewisse Zeit in die Vergangenheit zu springen. Sie erfährt von einer Geheimgesellschaft, der es mittels eine Chronographen möglich ist, die Zeitreisenden gezielt in die Vergangenheit zu befördern, wenn auch für maximal 4 Stunden. Da gilt es nun einiges an Geheimnissen in der Vergangenheit zu erforschen und auch das schwarze Schaf der Familie zu finden...

Rubinrot hat mich etwas weniger als 3 Tage beschäftigt, es hat sich sehr flüssig gelesen, und ich hab auch gleich mit dem 2. Teil 'Saphirblau' angefangen. Prinzipiell bietet Rubinrot nicht viel Neues, außer dass anstatt Vampiren diesmal eben Zeitreisende die Hauptrolle spielen. Es ist, zumindest bis jetzt, eine Standardteenieliebesgeschichte, aber ich mag sowas ja eh ganz gern.
Also ich vergebe 8 von 10 für zwar nicht sonderlich hochstehende Literatur, aber eine durchaus nette Geschichte!
