Ransom Riggs: Ms. Peregrines Peculiar Children 2: Hollow City

The second book begins, where the first one left us. Jacob and his peculiar friends are trying to flee the island which has so long been their safe haven on rowing boats. Several near-death experiences later the group manages to get onto the main land. As Ms. Peregrine is still not able to transform back into her human form, the children try to find out, who may help her - and them. A strange lake and an even stranger lump of rock are the beginning of a quite peculiar scavenger hunt. People have to be rescued and others teach them quite a lesson, wights have to be fled, and World War II is still ongoing...

Ransom Riggs breathes new life into strange old photographies he buys at flea markets and such. The story about Jacob and his friends, each with a special ability, is a kind of super hero story, even if the children are not real super heros (yet). I hope that the third book will be published soon! 10 out of 10 for a great story without weak points (for me).

I am currently reading my second "Lesezirkel"-book, "Warbreaker" by Brandon Sanderson.
