[LESEZIRKEL] Brandon Sanderson: Warbreaker

Idris and Hallandren are on the edge of war. The princess of Idris should be sent to marry the Godking of Hallandren on her 20th birthday, however, as the contract does not state which princess needs to marry the Godking, not the eldest daughter Vivenna is sent, but the her wild sister - Siri.
Idris is a not very colourful country, brown and beige rule, people wear high-necked clothing, and are quite modest. Hallandren is the complete opposite: everything is full of bright colours, clothing is not very abundant, and people are not modest at all. This huge changes affect even wild Siri. She needs to adapt to the city and to the rules of the king's court, which does not come easy to her.
Vivenna tries to put her father's mistake right by trying to free her sister, but Hallandren is a challenge for her as well, and so she is dependend on 2 mercenaries...

Two sisters, 3 forces, one Godking and a strange magical system named "Awakening" are the incrediences for this book... I had troubles dipping into the story, I did not get warm with some of the characters, and had problems with the breath-thing...

We discussed the book in our Lesezirkel (reader circle), and found out that the nicest characters are a dead squirrel and a talking sword... which says a lot about this book.

I do award 5 out of 10 points for a new (at least for me) idea of interpreting magic, however, I think ending was way to quick, a lot was explained in only a pages, a lot is left unsaid due to sudden deaths... it was a little like in a hack 'n' slay game, you don't need to know too much, just go on and read... which is contrary to what I expect of a book...

Next Lesezirkel book is "The lies of Locke Lamora", which I haven't started yet.
